| Manu, a young Brahmin, wanted to know fully the wisdom of the Vedas, without reading them. His father, a renowned scholar, and he inherited the powers necessary to become wise men. But due to laziness, the son dismissed the idea of reading the Vedas. For your convenience, began to worship Indra, the king of heaven. After a while, it appeared to him and said,
"Your meditation and I welcome your efforts. Now you can ask me a wish."
Manu, anxious that time, bowed to him and said:
"Grant me the favor of meeting all the Vedas without me to read. "
Indra laughed and replied:
" Sorry. I can not grant you what they want, because until now no one has come to know the Vedas thoroughly without having read them.
But Manu was persistent and resumed their worship offering solid foods, fasting and drinking only water. After a while, Indra appeared and said:
"Indeed, your worship I am impressed. Tell me what I can do for you. "
This Indra repeated his desire and again expressed the impossibility of meeting and left.
The next day, Manu went to sea to swim and saw a man who threw pebbles into the water. He watched for a long time and could not resist asked
"Why do you miss the sea endlessly stones?"
The man replied:
"I dislike and try to fill them."
When listening, laughed and asked Manu:
"How could I not fill the sea with stones?
The man replied,
"Sí.Si actually exist who know the Vedas without having read it, I can fill the sea with stones." Instantly Manu
realized who it was that man.
He leaned over and gently touched his feet in submission. Was none other than Indra. Manu
asked
"Is there a special method to master the Vedas? "
E Indra replied
If you have the wisdom of the Vedas, chant the Gayatri Mantra. The end with your laziness and you rejoice. You will always feel fresh and enthusiastic. also sharpen your intellect and so will be another man. Thanks to his amazing strength mastered the Vedas. "
